About
Carina A. Iati, PsyD

Welcome! I'm glad you found me.
I am a licensed psychologist (Massachusetts) with 20 years of experience serving individuals with mental health struggles. I've been drawn to this work by a genuine belief that all people deserve, and are capable of having lives that include joy, meaning and connection no matter the difficulties they have faced.
I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Indiana State University, followed by internship at University of Massachusetts Medical School/ Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital. I continued training with a postdoctoral fellowship in psychosocial rehabilitation at Emory University School of Medicine before returning to Massachusetts to provide psychological care in public service mental health and juvenile justice.

Much of my work has emphasized recovery from painful experiences, and highlights the innate wisdom of the body. In addition to my training and clinical experience, I am a certified trauma sensitive yoga practitioner (TCTSY-F) and personal trainer (NASM-CPT), which has deepened my appreciation for the body's role in psychological wellness and has allowed me to include movement, breath and body-awareness as components of therapy.
Each person has unique needs in therapy. Let's discuss what healing could look like for you.

INTRODUCTORY MEETING
Begin by scheduling a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your hopes for services. This is an opportunity to ensure our collaboration would suit your needs. You will have an opportunity to share your concerns and ask questions about services.
ABOUT THERAPY
I offer services virtually, allowing you to create a therapy space that is most comfortable for you. You might choose to bring a pet, a weighted blanket or a cup of tea to session. Any private, comfortable space can become our therapy office.

We will work together to decide what therapy will look like for you, guided by your goals for treatment. My experience with various treatment modalities will allow us to develop an approach unique to your needs. In my work I regularly use components of: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Sensorimotor Therapy and Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY).

CLINICAL CONSULTATION
This service is for agencies, organizations, and professionals seeking guidance in working with complex and challenging clinical presentations. Consultations are designed to deepen understanding, support effective intervention, and strengthen clinical confidence.
Consultation is not only about problem-solving—it can also create space for reflection, growth, and renewed confidence in the important work you do.

Areas of Consultation
-
Case conceptualization for complex or challenging presentations — deepening understanding of clients with overlapping trauma, dissociation, or psychosis-spectrum experiences.
-
Developing trauma- and attachment-informed treatment plans for clients with complex or co-occurring symptoms.
-
Integrating embodied and interoceptive awareness into psychotherapy to support self-regulation and connection to the body.
-
Applying trauma-informed and safety-oriented practices within individual, group, or organizational clinical settings.
-
Supporting clinician well-being through embodied self-awareness and sustainable self-care practices.
-
Navigating diagnostic uncertainty and tolerating ambiguity in work with complex or evolving presentations.
-
Supervising or mentoring clinicians in trauma-informed, body-based, and psychosis-sensitive practice.
-
Enhancing therapeutic alliance and engagement with clients who have experienced coercion, hospitalization, or mistrust in mental health systems.

CONSULTATION PROCESS
Each consultation begins with a collaborative discussion to clarify your goals and the specific questions you would like to address. Together, we will define the scope of the consultation—whether it involves a single meeting, a series of sessions, or ongoing consultation over time.

All case consultations include a written clinical formulation and tailored recommendations.

Depending on the needs of the case or agency, consultation may include:
-
Meeting with an identified client one or more times virtually or in-person.
-
Meeting with team members virtually or in-person
-
A feedback presentation or training session for clinical teams or other professionals serving the client
-
A feedback meeting with the client
-
A written report summarizing key findings and guidance
-
Follow-up or ongoing consultation
FLEXIBLE, COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
Consultation is never one-size-fits-all. Each process is defined together, ensuring that the format, depth, and duration of the consultation best serve the needs of the client and the professionals involved. The goal is to offer thoughtful, clinically grounded input that supports meaningful progress and sustainable change.
RATE
Consultation rates vary depending on the scope and type of services provided. Factors such as the length of meetings, the inclusion of written reports, and whether follow-up or ongoing sessions are needed will all shape the overall fee. Because each consultation is tailored to the unique needs of the client or organization, rates are discussed and agreed upon in advance.
